You! (optional)
Name: Phoebe
Age: Between the ages of 6 and 16.
Where you found this: Uh, hel-lo... I'm primary admin on TAH.
Character
Name: Selene Youngblood
Age: 15
Type: Uh... Human, but could she have a Tamora Pierce-esque semi-gift? (quarter, third - I'm not picky.)
If you've never read Tamora Pierce's Lioness Quartet, shame on thee. In any case, if you have a gift, it means you have magical abilities. Everyone has a sort of colour. The main character has a full gift, purple. If she gets the right training, she can do pretty much anything but raise the dead. If you have a half gift, you can be a pretty accomplished mage or healer with training. Etcetera, etcetera, if you have a fifth gift, you can light candles and little else. If Selene were allowed a third gift, she could light fires without matches, charm something to glow, like a necklace or something, or throw some form of magic as a weapon. It might also be semi-elemental. Magic can also be given if you haven't a gift. If you have a gift, you can store magic as a substance, and give it to those who have none. Selene's gift would be very pale blue.
Physical Appearance: Tall and and thin, with very pale blonde hair past her shoulder blades, pale skin, and a dusting of freckles over the bridge of her serious, pointy nose, a small mouth, with high, angular cheekbones and wideish eyes set a little to far apart. For the most part, her face is heart shaped, though a rather skinny heart - she lost her chubby child's cheeks around the age of seven. Most remarkeably, her eyes are a very bright blue.
Personality: At first glance, Selene looks not like your average village girl, cheery and flirty, but a very calm, collected and determined young woman with a serious face. Looking a little deeper, you'll know she's quite headstrong, and if you know her very, very well, you'll realise she's not without faults in any way. She tends to let her self esteem drop alarmingly low, and gets angry at the slightest comment, hidden only by the placid mask she wears. She'll hide herself in her room for days at a time and throw small, internal temper tantrums about minor things she'd done, and than shame herself for having them. She worries nonstop, and, a major insomniac, will get up during the night and check on her family and the door lock to make sure all is well - other times, she'll be so afraid to move, she'll just lie awake for hours on end, trying not to move. She should probably tell someone about her insecurities, but she's afraid it will damage her image, which she values greatly, and make her seem weak. The last thing she'd do is shame her family name.
Family/Life Story: Selene is an only child, but thanks to the family business, an a small Inn in a smaller village with a lot of travellers, she has an adopted ring of family members, like an old man who became her semi-grandfather while telling stories in the inn, which he almost lived in. He told of the adventures he'd had in the backpack when he was younger, but most of them were probably fictional - Trolls wielding log-like instruments with pointed tips, like spears, but thicker, that they called 'pencils' populated most of them. Keller was like her black-sheep uncle - she kept him in line often, as he liked to cheat at cards. She didn't often associate with people her own age.
Notes: Sorry it's been taking me so long to make a character. I wanted one I could stick to for a good long time, without making new ones.
Also, I realised we're supposed to add weapon of choice. Truth is, Selene didn't even try picking up a sword before she knew she couldn't do it. She hated having something metal, and long, and sharp coming towards her. She was pretty muscley considering her frame, and could pull back the bow string, but the arrows always strayed, hitting, say, the fence, instead of the target a yard or two away. Spears were too awkward, and axes were too top heavy. Throwing knives, however, she was excellent at. She liked being able to aim carfeully, with not much brute force involved, and, believe it or not, she was pretty adept at hand-to-hand combat. Her father, who dreamed of having a boy who would become a soldier, was delighted his only child had picked up a form of self-defense, and she has two wrist sheathes and an ankle sheath she keeps with her most of the time.
Oh yeah, and clothing. She never went for the showy stuff the girls at the pub wore, and long sleeved, long skirted farmer's wife sort of dresses suited her even less. Eventually, she picked up the garb of a knee-length tunic, forest green or very dark purple for special occasions, and underneath that, leggings about midway down her calves, mostly tough brown linens.
