Ebeth went over to the rack of swords off to the side and picked out her favorite from last year. She swung it around experimentally. It seemed as balanced as ever, not that she could tell particularly well. The instructor wasn't there yet, nor were any of her classmates. She leaned against a tree with the sword crossed over her body and waited.

Amelia walked out into the field with her bow and arrow in hand.

"I hate swords," Thera announced loudly. "They're too long, and whenever I put my arm down I stab my foot."

Ebeth looked up at the loud sound of Thera's voice. "They're not my favorite either," she said. "I deal though. You need to be able to use them right." She picked a couple swords off the rack, picking a slightly shorter one for Thera, and tossed them to the newcomers. "Here"

Mr. Unnamed Instructor walked in at that point from a small shack set back a bit in the trees. "Er...right...so, hello..." he said rather nervously. "I'm..your instructor. I'm...going to...uh...teach you about....swords. Erm. Right. So...you have swords. Right. Erm. Good." He drew his own from its scabbard hanging on his belt. "So...who...er...thinks they can...use a...ah...sword? Come on...and um...try me..." He tended to break off every few words to think about what he was about to say next. He certainly didn't seem very threatening, however, if you looked closely, there was a slight glint in his eye that seemed to challenge the class.

"Can I use my bow and arrow instead?" Amelia asked hopefully.

Ebeth rolled her eyes. "Swordfighting, Amelia," she said irritably. "Bows and arrows come later. Believe me, if i had a choice i'd be using my daggers right now."

Mr. Unnamed Instructor smiled nervously at Amelia. "Now now..." he said to Ebeth. "She...prefers her own...weapon. Ebeth is...correct," he continued to Amelia. "You...cannot use...alternative...weapons. I'm sure...you will....learn to ah...love...the, erm...sword in time, um...however." He cleared his throat. "So...any, er...comers?"

"I've trained with the sword too," Amelia let the sword slip from her hands and flip in the air and elegently fall in her hands, "I'm ready."

Mr. U. smiled a rather mysterious and knowing smile. "Well...erm...then...come on. See...um..if you can...take me." He held his sword loosely, but there was a readiness about him. His whole body was tensed, completely prepared for whatever action.

Amelia liked a challenge she used a move that her master had taught her. She elegently jumped in the air and landed behid him and gave him a strong slash toward the stomach that angeled very nicely.

Mr. U calmly flicked her sword aside. "Excellent," he said with approval. "Try not to let the jump show so much next time. Your knees bent just a little too early in preparation. Other than that, it was very good. I assume you had an earlier trainer?"

((All right, he's been a chameleon for the last month and is "friendly aquaintances" with y'all. is that ok?))
Deke, standing unobtrusively next to the others, registered a note of mild disapproval at Amelia's showy swordsmanship. He supposed he was just jealous, as he was hopeless with one-handed weapons. The strange-looking axe that he had barely remembered was next to him on the ground.

"Yes, I did have a trainer at home......." She said as she stepped aside waiting for the next student to try and fight the teacher.

Ebeth sighed. "All right Mr. U, you know i despise this with a passion, but might as well get this over with." She swung at him halfheartedly.
